The post holder will work in the Sustainable Operations Team within Estates Directorate which manages property and facilities management interests on behalf of the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) including Her Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS), Home Office (HO), Crown Prosecution service (CPS), Department for Education (DfE), Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MCLG), Department for International Trade (DIT), Department for Exiting the EU (DExEU) and a number of Arm’s Length Bodies (ALBs). It comprises a diverse range of assets that include: prisons, training centres, operational buildings, approved premises and an office estate that supports the wider operational activities.
The post holder will be the focal point for energy and water management programmes across MoJ and the Estate cluster, providing good quality technical advice using tools to monitor performance and deliver solutions to reduce costs and consumption of utilities and reduce the carbon footprint of the Estate Cluster and to meet the Greening Government Commitments.
The post holder will work in collaboration with numerous delivery partners and stakeholders and ensure good quality data and systems are in place including; data collection and analysis, benchmarking, metering and monitoring etc.
The post holder will manage a key sustainability data collection contract for the Estates Cluster.
Candidates applying for this role should have relevant experience.
A recognised qualification and/or professional membership (listed below) in this field would be very desirable.
• Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv)
• Energy managers association (EMA) fellow or member
• Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA)
• The Institute of Energy Management Professionals (InEMP)
• Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE)
The post holder must hold or obtain CTC level of security clearance.
The role will involve travel to establishments throughout England and Wales and requires a handover period largely based in London. After handover, the role could be based elsewhere in England or Wales with flexibility to travel.
Part-time applicants will be considered under job share arrangements.
The unit is supportive of and encourages flexible working and compressed hours candidates will also be considered.
