A unique opportunity has arisen for an established Lead Mechanical and Electrical Engineer to work in the Buildings and Construction group, the in house multidisciplinary design practice at Dorset County Council
We are based in the recently refurbished County Hall, Dorchester in the heart of the glorious Dorset countryside with the Jurassic coast close at hand.
We are looking for a self-motivated, dynamic and confident individual with excellent interpersonal skills who, as an experienced Building Services Design Engineer, can fulfil the role as a team leader and lead design engineer within our busy design team.
The team delivers major new build projects, extensions and refurbishment projects developing the County Council portfolio of buildings with a clear focus on successful outcomes for the customer and ensuring we provide economic, sustainable and well-built assets for the county.
Reporting directly to the Engineering Team Manager, the Lead M&E Engineer is responsible for the following:
• Be the point of contact for all Mechanical & Electrical Building Services queries.
• Managing the team of M&E Engineers, resource planning, allocating workloads, monitoring fee expenditure and project progress.
• Undertake a lead M&E design engineer’s role on major projects ensuring successful delivery of projects to time cost and quality.
• Developing existing and future Engineering policies. Previous experience of managing a design group is essential.
Experience of Dynamic Thermal Modelling and REVIT would also be of an advantage. Membership of an appropriate professional institution is required together with a relevant building services qualification and/ or substantial experience in a similar role.
